♦ The "Wild Card" of his universe's Inaba. The traits that would otherwise push him towards the Emperor Arcana here are helping him learn to become a leader figure for them, despite his younger age.
♦ Yu arrived in town some time after the start of the school year. Instead, Kanji had to run an errand around the gas station at that time - Izanami saw him as a different sort of outsider...
♦ His version of Izanagi's very similar to Yu's in appearance, if a little broader-shouldered and the likes. A manly, creative force... he'd be surprised to think of his 'natural' Persona being anything else! His Izanagi-no-Okami carries a mirrored shield as a weapon (as well as a sword at his back and a jewel pin in his tie) - references to the three sacred treasures of legend.
♦ Incidentally, he gets a version of Take-Mikazuchi from maxing his Emperor Arcana Social Link (an appropriately strong one).
♦ His original 'partner' in investigation was Naoki. Neither Yu or Yosuke has a Persona here. Chie joined the pair when they were investigating Yukiko's disappearance; Naoto got caught up in the same time frame Kanji himself would have in the usual timeline, and Rise's involvement went similarly to before. (The last of their group is a second year with the Tower Arcana.)
♦ Runs things a bit differently than Yu does. The guy who's spent his time trying to dodge school rules has quite a list for his own team... still got that spot of an Emperor streak.
* Rule 1: No-one goes in the TV alone. Self explanatory.
* Rule 2: No uniforms. No point in letting them get trashed when he's probably going to have to be the one to fix the damage... he's made that mistake in the past, hello biker gangs.
* Rule 3: No "real" (eg. bladed) weapons in public. / 3A: Leave what weapons/gear you have in the TV when you can. After all, they've got to go in via Junes, and carrying things like that around is just looking for trouble from security or the law.
* Rule 4: Look after your own equipment - split the cash from Shadows. Everyone knows what they need best, and having a delinquent run around with a million yen's worth of drops in his pockets isn't going to look good.
* Rule 5: Don't talk about this anywhere people can hear. Their usual 'headquarters' is a table at the back of Aiya where their conversation's drowned out, but they've got a spot on the school roof too.
♦ Didn't believe he was dreaming during the original P-1 Grand Prix... (Chie had the 'silly' outlook on things instead.)
♦ While there are plenty of different events throughout the year, things really go off the rails about the point where Nanako would be kidnapped in the canon timeline: in fact, Namatame never gets into the TV, the crew talk him down. Adachi realises that the group's getting onto him, though: he attempts to get rid of Naoto, thinking she's the biggest threat, but the end result is him hosting Kunino-Sagiri instead. Ameno-Sagiri's encounter is more of a 'Shadow Teddie Round 2' incident...
♦ Surprises the Gekkoukan crew when the teams meet during the Culture Festival incident, but Mitsuru and Minato slowly realise that he's in his position due to being solid, reliable, and knowing how to get the best from his team. ...Plus his artist's eye for details has made him damn good with maps, which helps. (He's more than a little confused as to why their crew wear their uniforms to go Shadow-hunting in the dead of night, though...) Still protective over Ken, still has Theo ... confused. Landed Shinjiro during the Group Date Cafe because seriously, pet movies.
♦ His Shadow, if/when he finally has the chance to encounter it, is not ~fabulous~. It's scared. It's the part of him that's still worried he's not strong enough for his father's expectations, that everything he's done is because of his friends and not his own skills, that sees all the mistakes he's made in his life...
